World Championships 2020 – Cancelled
Firstly, the 2020 Static Monsters World Championships are cancelled. For a number of reasons, all relating to the current problems posed by the Corona Virus Pandemic.
The mains reasons are:
– In this current situation of Corona Virus and its related problems, it would be nearly impossible to have all competitors in the same venue at the same time safely
– Most international competitors would not be able to travel to the USA due to Visa and flight restrictions
– Most competitors will not have access to training equipment to keep them at a fair competition level with gyms closed around the world.
What this means for currently entered competitors:
– Currently entered competitors will be receiving a refund of their competition fees.
What this means for qualified competitors:
– Those that qualified in October 2019, this will NOT qualify you for the 2021 World Championships. You will have to re-qualify on October 24 and 25 this year at your local event.
– Those that placed in the top three at the 2019 World Championships on the Gold Coast are still the reigning champions and therefor will be already qualified for the 2021 World Championships.
2021 Static Monsters World Championships:
The good news is, Chris Vachio and his plans and work that have gone into SMWC2020 will not be wasted and will go back into Worlds for 2021. The Venue will remain the same and the date for the new World Championships will be on July 24th, 2021.
